I got a full set of sliders that were 3 years in the making! Let me explain. I was in the market for a good slider that was easy to clean when it gets dust and sand in it. NM is a very dusty dirty place and no matter how sealed the sliders are they always gunk up. I was getting sick and tired of spending hours taking them apart to clean them. Well while I was looking a unlikely company called Proaim reached out to me and asked if they could help me with anything. Well I said I was in the market for a professional Mitchell slider and never thought anything more of it. Well a while later they contacted me saying the had a mitchell slider i could try out. Well the price was low and I thought what the heck ill try it. Well right off the bat there were a few problems I had with it so I contacted them and told them about the problems and within two days they had parts sent to me and in my hand to fix those problems. I remember thinking that was impressive since they are based out of India. Well I still had my doubts and used the 4′ slider on several shows for 1 year. Well it withstood the test of all those shows and many DP’s loved it. Even a Camera Operator who used to be a dolly grip said it was his favorite slider. So after that good impression I reached back out to Proaim and told them I wanted a 2ft, 3ft, and 6ft versions in addition to the 4ft I had for a year. Well they quickly said they would design those for me and just a few months later they sent them out just in time to work a show I was Key Grip on with Anthony Dod Mantle. They all worked great except the 3ft had a few issues with the locking knob. Well I emailed them about that problem and they quickly sent me out parts to fix it. Overall I have been very pleased with the way they have treated me. I noticed a few months after I received the sliders they were for sale on their website for a cheaper price then what I paid. However, I am not mad at this because they still treat me good and they were still a lot cheaper then the other options out there. Their Customer service is actually surprisingly fast. Faster then most of the American companies I deal with like Mole Richardson, American Grip or Modern Studio all companies I’ve ordered with many times and each time take months and months to get my orders in. Here is a company in India that delivers in a few days. Overall, I love their product. I can’t 100% say I would support their sliders if just anyone bought them. I don’t know if they give me special attention or if they treat me the same way they treat everyone. All I know is my experience has been a pretty good one. Right now they are currently designing me a z Axis arm for a specific weight for me. We will see how that goes and I am sure they will be selling it soon.
The sliders are pretty nice because they have legs that can be put on when shooting on the ground but also could be mountain to a mitchell tripod. Also they can be easily cleaned. That was the big one for me. A lot of these sealed sliders out their get gunked up in NM because of all our sand and dust. Doesn’t matter how sealed it is eventually you will need to take it completely apart to clean it. Anyone who has done that knows it takes for ever. This slider you have access to touch all the moving parts with a rag to wipe it down with silicone and takes just moments. Yes it isn’t sealed but when it gets full of dirt and grime its super simple to clean. Anyways here are some pictures of the sliders being used on sets the past year. Some DP’s even as big as Anthony Dod Mantle even liked them. So that says a lot.
